The online databases of early settlers (sometimes referred to as 'old colonists'), births and marriages are simultaneously searched for matches to the pioneer family surname you requested. The records found are automatically sorted into family groups to help you visualize the line you're researching. Gedcom files are not required. Family group sheets can now be filled in and branches of your family tree constructed.
Unregistered births and marriages are included.
Most of the spelling errors and inconsistencies in the original source documents have been corrected in our records. Any that remain may give useful but out-of-order search results. If you discover any of these errors, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can amend our data.
The individual components of this colonial pioneers database give more information on sources and acknowledgments:
Pioneer settler arrivals 1836 to 1858 (complete up to 1850),
Early births 1836 to 1860 (complete), and
Early marriages 1836 to July 1857 (complete).
If you are unable to find a particular pioneer's arrival, see our directory of SA shipping & migration resources to help locate another source.
